My goal in photographing a nature subject is to translate my vision and feeling for it onto a digital sensor. I try to capture the essence of my subject. I enjoy photographing nature looking for the edges of light early and late in the day. I hope my images exhibit a painterly quality. My photography allows me to slow down mentally, live in the present moment, and see the nuances and details of nature about me. I believe being in the field, often times, allows me to experience my best, my highest self.

My images have appeared in a variety of publications including Sierra Magazine, Lake Superior Magazine and calendars, and Whisper in the Woods Nature Journal. I enjoy teaching nature photography classes at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
